Quick answer
Points — each deal settles in rupees × point value; short sessions, easy to hop stakes. Pool — entry into a pool (commonly 101 / 201); eliminate on crossing the point cap; longer variance. Deals — fixed number of deals (e.g. 2/3); highest chip/score stack wins the prize split. Same 13-card skill base; pick format by time and variance, not by “learning to play.”

Points rummy
Per-deal settlement. Losers pay points × table value to the winner. Best when you want quick cycles, stake control, and easy stop-loss after N deals. Watch the point value more than the seat count.
Pool rummy (101 / 201)
Buy into the pool; accumulate points until you hit the drop threshold and exit. Mid-game drops and re-buys (if offered) change effective cost — read the table rules chip before join. Higher swing than Points for the same “feel” of skill.
Deals rummy
Fixed deal count. Chip stacks (or score) decide the winner after the last deal. Session length is predictable; you cannot “just leave after one bad deal” the same way as Points without eating the format rules. Size bankroll for the full set of deals.
